HOPE BAGS FOR KIDS

Currently, DHS places an average of 25 children into foster care between Lamar & Forrest Counties alone. Each of them has a name, a face, a smile, and a story. Children being placed in foster families need immediate help. Would you be willing to be a part of a their story? Please consider donating items for HOPE BAGS FOR KIDS -- lovingly prepared duffle bags filled with essential and comfort care items. These duffles will be provided to Lamar County DHS, and will be "at the ready" to meet a child's' needs during the traumatic experience of placement.


There are 2 options for donating HOPE BAGS FOR KIDS.


1. Donate online and select "missions".

2. Purchase items for filling a bag (see supply lists below) and drop at Hope's coffee shop on Sundays.

BAGS FOR EVERY CHILD

HOPE BAGS are made for every child, from birth to 18 years old. Below you'll find a suggested list of items for 3 different age ranges.


INFANT BAGS (0-18 MO)

Required items: (unisex, please)

Footed pajamas, socks, small blanket, bottle/sippy cup, pacifier, diapers & wipes, baby wash or soap, 

washcloth, small stuffed animal, baby board book


Optional additions:

Lotion, baby towel, teether, infant hairbrush, infant toothbrush and infant toothpaste

kids bags (ages 2-12)

Required items:

Socks, small blanket, soap or body wash, washcloth or puff, towel, small stuffed animal, book, toothbrush & toothpaste, shampoo & conditioner, hairbrush, deodorant


Optional additions: 

underwear, nightlight/flashlight, and coloring book/crayons

KIDS BAGS (AGES 13-18)

Required items:

Socks, comfy blanket, soap or body wash, washcloth or puff, towel, book/journal/notebook, toothbrush & toothpaste, shampoo & conditioner, hairbrush, deodorant, age-appropriate game/toy/fidget toy


Optional additions: 

underwear, nightlight/flashlight, and coloring book/crayons
